Gravel pit development will continue when the recession is over. I personally think it's a good thing, as once the land has been mined it can be developed and that development will help the infrastructure of the village.
The movement of vehicles will be no worse than a typical Friday pm jam on Hamble Lane and it might spur development of an alternative route out the village for tankers and delivery vehicles, ideally down Spitfire Lane where the road is wide enough to cope with the traffic.
